The local retention and signed list has been released. Can anyone stop TKR?
We are four months away from the start of the Caribbean Premier league 2022 but the anticipation is already brewing following the release of the local retention and signed list.
The news is headlined by Trinbago Knight Riders’ capture of Andre Russell and Nicholas Pooran from the Jamaica Tallawahs and Guyana Amazon Warriors respectively.
It’s a blockbuster move and a real statement of intent. In that regard can it be any surprise that TKR have been installed as early favourites?
It is worth noting for those that dont know the rules re: local retention
The CPL 2022 draft took place in two phases. In the first phase, teams were allowed to retain a maximum of five players and in the second phase, they were allowed to retain two more local players.
With that in mind and some of the franchises making questionable decisions, Dinesh Mahabir joined Machel to assess the strengths and weaknesses of each side.
