Is this really the nadir for West Indies cricket?
Another West Indies series defeat and the media/fans are demanding casualties...
The West Indies vs England T20 series may be nigh but make no mistake the accusations and recriminations from the Ireland series defeat are still very active in the Caribbean media.
Arguably Kieron Pollard has never been the most popular of captains within the region. His combative style and his refusal to suffer fools is more often than not described as him being arrogant and a bully.
His T20 exploits have not only seen him marked with the lazy mercenary moniker but he finds himself in the category of West Indian players that are more respected outside of the region than within.
In this context it should come as no surprise that many are calling for him and head coach Phil Simmons to be sacked or to quit.
This only further intensified when Pollard described the batting woes in the region as a endemic issue that needed a comprehensive holistic approach to halt the decline.
The merits of that argument notwithstanding this was interpreted in some quarters as an under-pressure Captain deflecting attention away from himself.
Of course at the Caribbean Cricket Podcast we are here to take on the big issues and look at the pros and cons of the different arguments.
