Knight Riders to face Royals in Women CPL final
THE TRINBAGO Knight Riders will meet 2023 title-holders Barbados Royals in the final of the 2024 edition, on Thursday, at the Brian Lara Cricket Academy, Tarouba, Trinidad.
The Knight Riders whipped the Royals by four wickets on Tuesday to finish second in the three-team group with four points, two more than Guyana Amazon Warriors. The Royals top the preliminary round phase with six points.
At Tarouba on Tuesday, the Royals posted a score of 130 runs for seven wickets with a top-score of 70 from opener Chamari Athapaththu (63 balls, 10 fours).
Off-spinner Samara Ramnath claimed two wickets for 20 runs, while pacers Shamilia Connell and Shikha Pandey had 2/25 and 2/26 respectively.
Led by an unbeaten 59 from Player of the Match Jemimah Rodrigues (50 balls, four fours), the Knight Riders reached their victory target of 131 for the loss of six wickets, with two balls to spare.
Kycia Knight was the next best for the Knight Riders with 17. Athapaththu got 2/24, with her off-breaks, for the Royals.
