The art of cricket administration
Machel talks effective cricket leadership with Dr Kishore Shallow, Vice President of CWI and President of the Windward Islands Cricket Board President.
One of the most confusing issues in West Indies cricket is the idea that Cricket West Indies can solve every ill in the Caribbean game.
Whilst there is no doubt that CWI are the custodians for the game the complexity of the Caribbean region means that little can really move forward if the individual regional boards dont also do their part.
Arguably this is one area that simply hasnt been up to scratch. There has been too much variance across the region re: administration and this then shows in the lack of consistency at the international level.
Often we have had cricketers come on the Caribbean Cricket Podcast and it is evident from their stories that they have succeeded in spite of administration not because of.
Therefore I wanted to dig a bit deeper and look at a regional cricket board that appears on the surface to be progressive and leading the way in taking cricket forward.
Dr Kishore Shallow, current Vice-President of CWI and more importantly the President of the Windward Islands cricket board joined me to talk progressive administration.
Take a listen and make up your own mind but maybe just maybe there are some lessons here for the other regional boards to heed.
