The New T20 age
We saw the early shoots of hope in Pakistan what should we expect vs Ireland and England
The West Indies may be in the midst of a ODI Super League encounter with Ireland but more eyes than one are on the forthcoming T20s vs Ireland and England.
The reality is that having flopped in the 2021 T20 WC - there is great intrigue over the next 10 months. A changing of the guard is underway and no more can the team rely on the Bravo’s, Gayle’s and Narine’s of this world, the young guns will now have to step up.
There may have been a 3-0 whitewash in Pakistan but there were also some early signs of promise at the back end of 2021.
The chosen squad has some notable absentees in Shimron Hetmyer (failed fitness) and Evin Lewis (covid) but the chosen names should still prove competitive against both Ireland and an England team missing some top tier names.
I had a go at breaking down the five key questions the squad selection poses as well identifying a possible final XI
Where does Rovman Powell fit? Is Kyle Mayers in direct competition with him?
Can Odean Smith and Romario Shepherd play in the same side? Is that one all-rounder too many ?
What are we doing with Hayden Walsh jr?
Who is the ‘anchor’ Roston Chase or Darren Bravo?
Is Sheldon Cottrell our only real strike bowler?
